Who can participate?

Do you hate fun? No? Then you can participate! No purchase necessary. The challenge is global, so submissions will be accepted from all regions.

What’s in it for me?

Learn something new, connect with the community, and have fun doing it! Get some swag in the process and for the top 20 sites, get highlighted on the Gatsby blog. We’ll also promote your work on Twitter.

When is the deadline to submit a site?

The deadline to submit a site to Gatsby’s Silly Site Challenge is December 31, 2020 at 11:59PM Pacific Standard Time / January 1st, 07:59am UTC. We’ll announce the top 20 sites by January 15th, and winners will be featured on the Gatsby blog in the following 2 months. All submissions may be referenced publicly.

How are submissions judged?

The Gatsby team will judge sites based on creativity, accessibility, performance (as measured by Lighthouse scores) and overall fun-ness. Sites must be built with Gatsby. Any submissions that violate the Code of Conduct will be disqualified.

  1. Perform an accessibility audit. Reference the accessibility guide for help.
  2. Run a performance audit using Lighthouse and/or WebPageTest
  3. Tweet your progress using #SillySiteChallenge
  4. Submit your site here and get that free swag! Submissions are due December 31st, 11:59pm PST / January 1st, 07:59am UTC
