Your donation is important. Let us match it.
[Thursday, June 4, 2020] Update:
Thank you to the Gatsby community for raising $25,000.00 in support of organizations that are focused on addressing systemic aggression and violence against Black people. We are proud to match your donations and to stand with you and the Black community in this pivotal moment. We have closed donation-matching for now while we determine our long-term plans for continued support.
There is a lot more work to do and this isn’t the end of the conversation at Gatsby. We’ll continue to listen and learn, and look forward to sharing how Gatsby will continue this important dialogue and drive forward with necessary action.
We hear you, we see you, and we stand with you.
[Monday, June 1, 2020] We stand by our community and right now, many in our community are hurting. We don’t have all of the answers, but we do have resources to give that can help. In order to get maximum impact, for the next week (through June 8, 2020), we are matching community and team members’ donations up to $25,000.00 USD (total) to the following organizations:
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
The ACLU is a nationwide nonprofit that operates in all 50 states and provides legal assistance wherever civil liberties are at risk. Their Racial Justice Program aims to preserve and extend constitutionally guaranteed rights to people who have historically been denied their rights on the basis of race. You can donate to the local chapter in Minnesota here.
Black Visions Collective
The Black Visions Collective aims to build “a political home for Black people across Minnesota” through a transformative justice model. By building movements from the ground up with an integrated model, they seek to create the conditions for long term success and transformation. You can donate here.
The dearth of humane political leadership in moments of crisis can make anyone feel hopeless. Fair Fight, an organization focused on free and fair elections, was founded by Georgia’s Stacey Abrams with a mission to end voter suppression and elect more progressive voices to public office. You can donate here.
NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF)
Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, the LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. LDF also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle and works to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments. Support the LDF here.
North Star Health Collective
North Star Health Collective works in alliance with mainstream and anti-authoritarian organizations to create a safe and healthy events. They host trainings, continuing education, and community events and share events from other collectives around the region. Support Northstar Health Collective here.
